BlackBerry users are to receive free minutes and SMSes to compensate them for this week’s BlackBerry service disruption
Vodacom announced in a press statement today (14 October 2011) that it will give all BlackBerry users affected by this past week’s outage the following compensation:
* 20 Vodacom to Vodacom minutes for use between Monday and Friday next week (17 October to 21 October)
* 20 SMSes
“RIM’s technical problems were out of our hands,” Vodacom’s chief officer of corporate affairs, Portia Maurice, is quoted as saying.
“Many BlackBerry users have been denied the service for three successive days, which is unusually long. It is only fitting that we do this as a gesture of appreciation for their patience.”
Vodacom said that they will not be able to offer such compensation every time a supplier has a problem, however.
“We do believe this is an exception,” Maurice said.
